
Anniversary Event for the 30th Anniversary of the Postgraduate Program in School Psychology and the 25th Anniversary of the Laboratory of School Psychology, Department of Psychology, NKUA
The anniversary event marking 30 years of the Graduate Program in School Psychology and 25 years of the Laboratory of School Psychology, Department of Psychology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), took place on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the “Kostis Palamas” building.
The event opened with greetings from the Rector of NKUA, Professor G. Siasos, the Chair of the Department of Psychology, Professor S. Tantaros, and the Director of the Graduate Program in School Psychology and the Laboratory of School Psychology, Professor Ch. Hatzichristou. This was followed by a presentation by Professor H. Chatzichristou titled: “Graduate Program in School Psychology and the Laboratory of School Psychology: A Timeless Journey of Collaboration, Connectivity, and Development”, along with a presentation of the anniversary album.
Subsequent contributions were made by members of the Coordinating Committee of the Graduate Program in School Psychology: Professor S. Tantaros, Professor Aik. Garí, Associate Professor D. Filippatou, and Assistant Professor A. Lampropoulou, as well as the Internship Coordinator, Dr. V. Nikolopoulou, E.DI.P.
Interventions were also made by alumni of the Graduate Program in School Psychology: Th. Yfanti (PhD in School Psychology, Interdisciplinary Support Committee, 2nd KEDASY, Athens), A. Kapetaniou (Head of the 2nd Center for Interdisciplinary Assessment, Counseling, and Support, Athens), A. Moutavelis (PhD in Special Education, Special Education & Inclusive Education Advisor), and D. Athanasiou (PhD Candidate in School Psychology, Interdisciplinary Support Committee, Eastern Attica).
The event concluded with musical performances by postgraduate students of the program: P. Georgopalis (flute) and G. Stathéas (violin).
Faculty and administrative staff of the Department of Psychology, alumni, and current postgraduate students attended the event. The anniversary event highlighted the history, development, and future prospects of school psychology, creating an atmosphere of reflection and appreciation as expressed in the speeches. Furthermore, it provided a valuable opportunity for academics, professionals, and postgraduate students to meet, share knowledge, and exchange experiences related to initiatives and applications of school psychology in the school community.
